How a Natural Gas Meter Works

Have you ever wondered why a Natural gas meter is installed outside your home, how it works and how it converts gas flow reading into bills?

In today's blog we will talk about all following topics.

What is Gas meter

Where we use Gas Meter

What is working principle of Gas meter

How is the reading Mechanism works?

What is Gas meter:

In order to measure the flow of gas, a gas metre is essentially a flow metre. This is mounted outside of our residences and places of business, and I'll show you a photo of the gas flow meter's inside operation.

There are two holes on the top of the gas meter. One is where the gas is coming from and the other is where the gas is going to home.

Basically a gas meter has three chambers, one is at the top, the other is on the site, the third is on the right, and there is a diapharm on the left and right side.Which is represented by numbers three and two.

Working Principal of the Gas meter:

Now let's talk about the first gas of the working principal of the gas meter coming into the chamber from the inlet then the sliding valve is on the left side due to which the gas starts spreading to the diapharm number 2 and goes to the gas out in 2 then the valve right side Moves to which diapharm number three spreads so that the gas in chamber three goes to the outside side then the valve moves to the right side and the gas starts filling in the chamber and the gas in diapharm number two goes out.

Now the valve goes to the left side and gas starts filling in chamber 3 and the gas in diapharm 3 gets out and thus this series continues till the gas flows.

Reading Mechanism of Gas meter:

Now let's talk about meter reading mechanism

It has a rod attached at the top and a link linked to the diapharm that moves when the diapharm moves

It moves a yellow gear with the help of two rods and links. Which further rotates the reading mechanism and the reading mechanism consists of black gears.

The first gear on the right side moves as a result of how they spin. One occurs in the second gear when it reaches 0 to 9. The sequence continues when the second gear reaches nine since one then appears on the third gear. If you utilized gas, a lot of numbers would be displayed on the readout.
